It’s Dinnertime! A meal planning app for working parents who need help getting dinners made.

Save the recipes your family actually eats, plan the week in one sitting, walk the store in aisle order, and cook hands-free.

This Week in It’s Dinnertime!: four dinners planned, Breakfast for Dinner, Pizza Night, Grilled Skirt Steak with Chimichurri, and Roast Chicken and Root Vegetables, each with one of the app’s drawings and a Start cooking link

Everything but Pro is free: plan the week, save recipes, walk the shop with your list, and cook hands-free, with no account.

It’s Dinnertime! is on its way to the App Store, for iPhone and iPad.

Five moments, not forty features.

Every picture below is the app, not a mockup.

Save

Scan a page, or paste a link from anywhere.

Scan a page from a cookbook, on an iPhone with Apple Intelligence, or paste a link from Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, Facebook or Safari. The recipe is saved in its own words, and a scanned page is read on your phone and never uploaded.

  • Instagram
  • TikTok
  • YouTube
  • Pinterest
  • Facebook
  • Safari

The page’s own ingredients and steps, never a guess at them. Where it came from stays on the card, and every line is yours to edit. Coming from Paprika? Bring your recipes with you.

Plan

The week in one sitting.

Tell the planner how many dinners you need and it fills the week from today forward. Planning is free, and by default it runs on Apple’s own models.

Share the week with your household and everyone sees the same plan.

Shop

The list writes itself from the week, in aisle order.

  • Kroger
  • Publix
  • Walmart
  • Costco
  • Whole Foods
  • Albertsons

Not sure your store is in the Kroger family? Put in your zip code and the app shows the stores near you, on a map.

Pro Prices, Past Orders and the Cart

With Pro, one tap does both: the week goes on your list, and the items you’ve matched to a Kroger product go to your Kroger cart. Live prices come from Kroger itself, at Kroger, Ralphs, Fred Meyer, King Soopers, Smith’s, Fry’s, QFC and the rest of the family.

In the Kroger cart, things you count go in as counted, so three limes are three. Things you weigh go in as one, and the app tells you so.

Without prices the list still works.

Or press the Action Button and say the item.

Set the Action Button to Dinnertime and a press asks what should go on the list, then which of your store lists. Say it or type it, and it lands there without the app opening, even from the Lock Screen.

“Add eggs to my grocery list in Dinnertime.”

Also works by asking Siri.

Set it up once in Settings, Action Button, Shortcut, Dinnertime.

Add This Week in It’s Dinnertime!: the week’s groceries by aisle, each row showing whether a product is picked, with Add 31 to list and Add 31 to list, 24 to cart

Cook

One step at a time, in large type.

The timer and this step’s ingredients sit beside it.

  • Say next when your hands are covered in flour.
  • The timer follows you to the Lock Screen and the Dynamic Island.
  • Cooking for more? Scale the dinner and the list follows.
  • What is coming up next sits under the step, so you can read ahead.

Oven Alerts Pro

Your oven tells you when it’s preheated.

SmartThingsConnect a Samsung oven, range or cooktop through SmartThings once, in Settings. From then on Dinnertime tells you what it’s doing, even with the app closed and your phone in another room.

  • When it’s at temperature: “Your oven is at 400° F. Time to put it in.”
  • When it turns on, or a burner does.
  • When the oven’s own timer is done.
  • If it’s still on after dinner, or the door has been left open.
  • While you cook, its temperature sits on the cook screen and on the Lock Screen.
A real Dinnertime alert on an iPhone Lock Screen: A burner just turned on.

Each alert has its own switch, and all six start on. Dinnertime only reads your oven. It never turns it on or changes a temperature.

Needs Pro and a Samsung oven, range or cooktop that works with SmartThings. Alerts go to the phone that connected the oven.

Almost nothing about you leaves your phone.

Here is what does leave it, and where it goes. The privacy policy has the full list.

What goes where

Your phone Your recipes and your week live here.
  • Your own iCloud

Your recipes ride your own iCloud, drawn pictures included. No account. Only you can read it.

  • A price lookup

A search word and a store go out, product data comes back. Nothing about who asked is kept, beyond our host’s own request logs, which expire in about a day.

  • Open Food Facts

Scanning a barcode sends the barcode there to name the product.

  • An oven connection Pro

Only if you connect an oven. Details in the card below.

What the connection keeps, and when it is deleted, is in the privacy policy.

There is no account with us.

The app has no accounts and no tracking, and it sends us no analytics. Nothing is used for tracking, and none of it is sold or used for advertising.

Demo

Your own AI key Pro

Point the planner at your Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini account for a bigger model. The app tells you what leaves the phone.

The planner is free and runs on Apple’s own models by default. The week is planned by Apple’s own planner, on the phone or in Apple’s private cloud, which is built so that nobody, Apple included, can read your request.

SmartThingsThe one exception: an oven connection Pro

Our server keeps that connection and deletes it when you disconnect, or on its own 30 days after the app last renewed the connection.

It keeps

  • Which connection is yours
  • The connection’s keys, encrypted
  • Where to send alerts: your phone’s address for them
  • Which alerts you want
  • The oven’s last reading, and only the last one

It never keeps

  • A history of readings
  • A log
  • Your name or your email
  • Your Samsung password
  • What you cooked

Apple RemindersYour list lives in Reminders.

The list is kept in Apple’s Reminders, in a list you choose, so it can be shared with family the way Reminders are shared.

Apple HealthStraight to Apple Health.

Turn it on and the figures for each dinner you finish land in Apple Health, dated at the cook, estimates marked as estimates. That connection only writes. A separate, optional connection can show today’s totals from other apps beside your dinner; what it reads is displayed on the phone and forgotten. Free for everyone.

Every recipe gets a picture.

A recipe with a photograph keeps it. One without never gets a blank square.

On an iPhone with Apple Intelligence, the app draws a picture of the dish, right on the phone, and keeps it with the recipe in your own iCloud, so your iPad shows the same one. On iOS 26 it draws one by itself for every recipe without a photo. On iOS 27 it is one tap per dish.

No picture? The dish gets one of 28 drawings, one for every kind of dinner, from soup to Caribbean.

Pictures are drawn on your phone and stay in your own iCloud. Rather not? Turn off Drawn pictures in Settings.

And the rest of it.

The smaller things a week needs.

Published figures where a recipe has one, an on-phone estimate where it doesn’t, and every estimate says so.

The week’s calories and protein.

Calories and protein, plus the week’s shape day by day, free for every week.

Every nutrient, night by night.Pro

Every nutrient for the week with its percent daily value drawn as a bar, and each night opening into its own figures.

The timer follows you to the Lock Screen.

It rides the Lock Screen and the Dynamic Island. With a connected oven, so does its temperature (Pro).

Search by dish, or by what’s in the fridge.

Or filter by cuisine and rating.

Scan it anywherePro

One barcode, every store you use, checked by barcode at each of them. Only a store that carries the exact item shows a price, and a store with several matches lets you pick the right size.

Prices on the listPro

Every item priced, a total for each store, and the time each price was read. Kroger’s prices come from Kroger itself. The rest are read off your own signed-in store page, on the phone.

Running lowPro

Your own past orders, read back to you: what you buy most, and what is probably out.

Your own daily valuesPro

More protein, fewer carbohydrates, your calories. Every percentage in the app measures against your own goals once you set them. Leave a goal empty and the usual value stands.

Share the week.

Everyone at home sees the same plan and can cross off a dinner they don’t want.

  • Share the week with your household.
  • Anyone can cross off a night they do not want, and the planner picks Change it or Keep it.
  • Send a recipe to someone at home.
  • Get a note when the plan changes. It is sent through iCloud, not our server.
  • Each person gets their own colored avatar.

If anyone in the house has Pro, it covers everyone, whether it is a Family Sharing Pro or their own. If Pro lapses or the Pro member leaves, nobody is removed. The household just cannot add people until it is back within the limit.

A household of two is free. Up to six with Pro.

Add someone any time in Settings, under Household. Everyone needs the app and iCloud.
